Is link spam really on the rise?view story

http://www.searchlaboratory.com Tweet It has been common practise in recent years when optimising websites to avoid using any techniques which could be remotely regarded as Black Hat. For instance, anybody hoping to gain quick, high ranking results in search engines using spammy, grey hat link building would be a venturing down a dangerous path. These types of tactics can (unfortunately for all us white hat SEO’s) work in the short term. Websites may be able to creep under Google’s radar and rank on the first page with little effort, but eventually those kinds of sites would be caught and penalised, heavily! (SEO)

Set Achievable Goals and Look Beyond Extrinsic Rewardsview story

http://www.amnavigator.com Those who follow my blog, magazine articles, and conference presentations know how fascinated I am with the subject of motivation, especially when it comes to effective motivation of such a unique “workforce” as affiliates. Needless to say why a post published on Econsultancy.com yesterday has immediately drawn my attention — right upon spotting its title in my Google Alerts list of notifications — “The art of affiliate incentives”. Overall, it’s a good solid article by Owen Hewitson, a Client Strategist at Affiliate Window/Buy.at. But I have two things to add to the important subject he has chosen to tackle. (SEO)

Go to this link (‘sup right now but dunno for how long, eh!) to see same – www.google.co.uk or www.google.es or www.google.it…. Note the buckeyballs? Well, that’s my own take and many others too online-wise I mean as to what this “means”. (SEO)

LinkedIN: What’s Needed is Purging Spammy Groups!view story

http://www.canuckseo.com Okay, I’m a firm — and I mean FIRM believer in the value of LinkedIN as a business social networking site. I’ve blogged about using LinkedIn to gain some new traffic from an SEO practitioners point of view here. I’ve been ‘hooked-up’ by LinkedIN marketing folks for local press to interview me on using LinkedIN for business here. I go each and every day at least two or three times to view my Answers areas and home page updates too….and the real issue for me is the Groups areas…and what I find there. (SEO)

Best Practices for Affiliate Commission Reversalsview story

http://www.amnavigator.com Reversals happen. They happen to merchants, and by extension, they hit affiliates too. Of course, affiliates love programs with “no reversals” policies, but if you, as a merchant, aren’t ready to offer one, I strongly encourage you to at least stick to the following 3 best practices: 1) Locking Periods — Set the locking period in a way that both gives you enough time to react to your customers’ returns and cancellations, but doesn’t stretch this time beyond the sensible time period required for you to apply the corrections/changes. After all, affiliates don’t get any certainty on their earnings until that commission locks in their account. (SEO)
